Dan Burghardt Insurance was started in 1983 by Dan Burghardt.  It has continued to be a locally owned and operated agency, and is one of the largest insurance agencies in the New Orleans metro area. Our dedicated and experienced staff is committed to prompt, excellent service for each and every client.

Management Team

Dan Burghardt
President & Founder

Dan is a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area.  He graduated from Rummel High School in 1969, attended the University of New Orleans where he studied journalism, and enlisted at the Belle Chasse Naval Air Base in the Specialty Reserve Program.

Dan credits his father, John Burghardt, a top salesman and manager with various insurance companies, for instilling in him a strong work ethic, relentless persistence, an unwavering commitment to quality, providing superior service, and a "no shortcut" approach to job performance. His experience with his father led him to the conclusion that insurance was in his blood.

His insurance career began at the age of 19 with Metropolitan Life, the youngest salesperson ever hired, where he exceeded all sales expectations and achieved top performance.  Dan's experience as a life agent for seven years led him to a strong desire to assist his clients with all of their insurance needs, so he moved to Prudential Life & Property Casualty where, over the next 10 years, he became a nationally recognized producer.

Driven further by a desire to assist clients regardless of circumstances, in 1983 Dan opened Dan Burghardt Insurance Agency as an independent agency representing multiple companies selling multiple products.  Now, over 30 years later, his agency has 6 locations in the New Orleans area, producing over $23 million in business, representing over 100 companies and offering a full suite of coverages including Auto, Home, Flood, Commercial, Life and Health.

 Dan has been a long time member of both the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Louisiana and the Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana associations.  Through these and other avenues, he has been a constant advocate for positive changes in the insurance industry and continues to consult with fellow agents, association leaders, and government regulators to improve the insurance market for both consumers and independent agents.

Dean Basse
General Manager

A lifelong resident of southeast Louisiana, Dean has 34 years of experience in the insurance industry and I.T.  Since 1990 he has been associated in various capacities with Dan Burghardt Insurance Agency.  He has been a part of agency management beginning in 1995, and has been General Manager of the agency for over 15 years.  Dean has worked closely with Dan Burghardt throughout this time to achieve Dan's vision and goals.

 Mary D'Antonio
Operations Manager

A lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, Mary joined Dan Burghardt Insurance in 2009 as a Customer Service Representative.  She has 9 years of insurance industry experience.  Mary became a member of the management team in 2016 and assumed Operations Manager duties in the middle of 2017.  As a vital part of overall agency operations, she manages all aspects of client interactions with the agency.

Jennifer Clements
Sales Manager

Jennifer is a native and long time resident of St. Bernard Parish.  She joined the Dan Burghardt Insurance team in 2004 and has 14 years of insurance experience.  Jennifer has successfully performed in almost every sales position in the agency, the last of which was Senior Life & Health agent in 2013, where she revived and grew the department after the massive changes caused by the passage of the ACA.  She was promoted to Sales Manager at the beginning of 2017, and has been a valuable part of the management team since, responsible for implementing the demanding sales and marketing practices of Dan Burghardt.

Holly Sallinger
Customer Services Manager

Holly is a native and lifelong resident of the Westbank.  She has 19 years of insurance experience, has been with Dan Burghardt Insurance since 2009, and loyally served management as Executive Assistant since 2013.  Demonstrating a willingness to always go above and beyond for a client, Holly set a very high standard of service that recommended her for her current position.  Recently promoted to the Customer Services position, she assists and expects her department to achieve and maintain the high bar she has set.
